About
Wandering Emerald is a personal travel blog. Like many blogs, it generates income through affiliate commissions, display advertising, and occasionally sponsored content. This page explains each of those relationships plainly, in compliance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines, and applicable Philippine regulations on commercial endorsements.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase or booking, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate income helps support the time and cost of running this site.
Affiliate programs I currently participate in include, but may not be limited to:
- Klook — tours, activities, and travel experiences
- Booking.com — hotels and accommodations
- Other travel booking, accommodation, and product programs as they are added
Posts containing affiliate links include a disclosure notice at the top or within the content. The presence of an affiliate relationship does not influence which products or services are featured or how they are reviewed. I only recommend things I believe are genuinely useful or relevant to the content.
Note on affiliate links
You are never obligated to use my affiliate links. If you prefer, you can search for the same product or service directly.
Display advertising
Wandering Emerald currently does not run display advertising, but I plan to apply to ad networks when the site meets eligibility requirements. When display ads are active, this page will be updated to reflect that.
Display advertisements are served by third-party ad networks. I do not control which specific ads appear. Ad networks may use cookies and browsing data to serve relevant advertisements to you. See the Privacy Policy for more information and opt-out options.
Sponsored content
Occasionally, a brand or tourism board may compensate me (monetarily or in-kind) to create content featuring their product, destination, or service. When this happens, the content is clearly labeled “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership,” or similar at the top of the post.
Sponsorship does not guarantee a positive review. My obligation is to readers, not to sponsors, and I will always share my honest assessment of any experience, including any shortcomings.
Complimentary and hosted experiences
I may occasionally receive complimentary accommodation, tours, transportation, meals, or other travel-related experiences in exchange for potential coverage. Where this is the case, it is disclosed within the relevant post. Receiving a complimentary experience does not guarantee coverage, and it does not guarantee a favorable one.
Images
Most photographs on this site are taken by me during my travels and are my intellectual property. Where images are sourced from third parties, they are used under the following conditions:
- Stock photography: licensed from stock providers and credited in the caption or image description (e.g. Pexels, Unsplash).
- Brand and tourism board images: provided with permission and credited accordingly.
- Other creators’ images: used with explicit written permission and credited to the original creator.
If you believe an image on this site has been used without proper credit or permission, please contact me and I will address it promptly.
Accuracy of travel information
Travel guides, itineraries, and budget breakdowns on this site reflect conditions, prices, and policies at the time of writing. Visa requirements, entry rules, transport fares, and accommodation prices change. Always verify details with official sources before making travel decisions. I am not responsible for decisions made based on outdated information on this site.
No income guarantee
Any discussion of remote work, affiliate income, or digital nomad finances on this site reflects my personal experience only. Results vary significantly. Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice, and no specific outcome is guaranteed.
My editorial promise
Money does not buy a recommendation on Wandering Emerald. Affiliate relationships, sponsorships, and complimentary experiences do not determine what gets written, how it is framed, or what rating it receives. If I recommend something, it is because I genuinely believe it is useful or worth your time.
